2025.12 Portnox Cloud release - RCA for Meraki Wireless 802.1X/RADIUS authentications outage

Summary:

On December 15, 2025, during scheduled maintenance and deployment of the Portnox Cloud 2025.12 update, Portnox Cloud experienced a service disruption that impacted customers using Cisco Meraki Wireless for 802.1X/RADIUS authentication. In some cases, wireless authentication requests were incorrectly evaluated against the configured SSID, resulting in failed authentications. The change causing the issue was rolled back and service was restored within approximately 90 minutes.

Root Cause Details:

A change introduced in the 2025.12 update affected how Portnox Cloud identifies the wireless network (SSID) during Meraki 802.1X/RADIUS authentication. In certain environments, the SSID identified during authentication did not match the SSID configured in Portnox Cloud policy/group settings, which resulted in authentication attempts being denied. The change was rolled back to restore normal operation.
